At Atelier Favela people of all different origins get together to fight against social exclusion in Rio de Janeiro. People that are doomed to be seen as outsiders are, Favela inhabitants:

Children who grow up in slums. Who unfortunately experience on a daily basis the negative influences of violence, drugabuse, alcoholism, crimes and social discrimination.
Youth At Risk:  Streetkids that are highly disconnected fom society that look for a connection within the drug gangs as a dealer or a kid soldier These youth at risk tend to have young mortality rates.
Families, adults with low education, but a desire to change their position within society. Parents that want to be involved in the social debate, and the activities of their children.
‘Catadores’ collectors of waste,living on the streets, that have to survive in this hard society by selling their collected materials such as paper, aluminium, plastics and wood.

Atelier Favela attracts young artists, volunteers, and local carioca’s to work together on improving the life of people living in the slums. We believe that working together gives a connection and better understanding of life. We welcome all people to make a difference, enrich themselves, and help people that live in the favela, together.
