The new location where the studio of Atelier Favela is located is an ample space, which makes it possible to have artists living here. To have an exchange of inspiration we love to open the doors of our studio to all different kind of artists. Especially those artists who have an interactive approach towards the local community.
The Artist-in-Residence program of Atelier Favela includes besides accomodation, aswell an individual studio. You can use the individual studio to develop your work. The studio has a lot of light, space to stock your work or equipment, and a working table. Besides your individual studio, you are also free to use the common spaces in and outside the house.
At Atelier Favela you will get a lot into contact with the local community. Also because of the lessons to children in the afternoon. Feel free to get inspiration by joining us during our daily routine of lessons available for the local people.
The costs for the Artist-in-Residence program are US$ 135,00 a week. This includes acess to your individual studio, a bed in a common dormitory, and use of the kitchen and other common spaces. If you prefer a privat room you can contact us. Meals and materials to make your work are not included in the program.
To apply for the Artist-in-Residence program we would like to receive a curriculum/portfolio and a proposal for the work you are planning to make at Atelier Favela. (including timeschedule)
For those who still would like to develop their skills of visual arts, like painting and drawing, are also welcome at our studio. We have developed a special program for painting and drawing adapt to your level and interests. Depending your demand you can have every day a lesson in which the basic techniques are explained and challenging assignments are offered.
